奥运会的精神是The mission of Olympic Spirit is "to build a peaceful and better world in the Olympic Spirit which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play - Olympic Spirit strives to inspire and motivate the youth of the world to be the best they can be through educational and entertaining ... 奥运的宗旨是通过公平竞赛，相互理解，增加友谊，建立一个更加和平和美好的世界。并且，鼓励年轻人通过锻练成为一个最好的自己。
而奥运冠军，无论是过去的还是现在的，本国的的还是他国的，他们的奋斗精神，是全人类的楷模。所以，不应该说“突破了某国的垄断”等等。至少，不应该在正式场合。
