【Good morning. My name is ×××. I’m from ××× 。
Duanwu festival is coming. How much do you know about it? It's well known that, Duanwu is used to commemorate Quyuan, a famous poet in Chinese history. About 2300 years ago, he jumped into the Miluo river. In order to prevent fish from biting his body, the local people threw rice balls into the river. In addition, they also rode boats to drive away the fish. These are the reasons that we are racing dragon boat and eating Zongzi nowadays.
Why did Quyuan give up his life? As far as I know, he loved his country, but his political ideals were not adopted by the emperor, and finally he had no choice but to commit suicide.
I respected him very much, but I always wondered why he had taken such an extreme action, and whether there was a better way. To some extent, he is also a brave “coward”, which is not worth us learning.
Anyway，Quyuan is a great person, but not perfect. We’d like to learn the loyalty and love for the country from him， but not everything.
